What is a school safety team?
At Bike Walk Alameda, we believe everyone should be able to get to school safely – especially those who walk or roll. One of the best ways to support this goal is to ensure safe drop off procedures at our schools. School safety teams consist of parents, school staff, and students. They are responsible for designing and implementing a safe drop off procedure at their school.
What are their responsibilities?
Each school safety team will assess their school’s unique safety challenges with regard to traffic and create solutions to keep kids and families safe on their way to school. These groups primarily focus on morning drop off as opposed to school pick up.

What are their priorities?
Ultimately, these teams focus on getting kids to school safely, but they can also work to create safe routes for other users (kids at different schools, etc), to ensure those who pass by the school can do so safely.
