UPDATE! Join us Saturday, June 3rd at 10AM to Plant Pat Potter Memorial Grove
Great news! Thanks to your generous support, we have raised enough money to plant over 20 trees in Pat Potter’s honor!
Thanks to people like you who donated, to the City of Alameda, and 100K Trees for Humanity, we invite you to plant Pat Potter’s Grove on Saturday, June 3 from 10:00-about Noon in Leydecker Park in Alameda.
Contact us if you would like to participate in the tree planting. Bring gloves. All other materials such as shovels, buckets, wheel barrels, etc. will be provided by the City and 100K Trees for Humanity.
We are looking forward to seeing you on Saturday, June 3, and honoring Pat in this special way.
Community Action for a Sustainable Alameda, Bike Walk Alameda, and All Rise Alameda have all indicated they would like to do something together to honor Pat Potter here in Alameda. After suggestions from representatives from the groups, and consultation with Pat’s daughters and best friend, we decided a tree planting in an Alameda park would be a fitting tribute to our dear friend Pat. We’ve arranged to work with 100K Trees for Humanity on this effort. The location is currently under discussion between Amos White, leader of 100K Trees for Humanity, and the City’s Rec and Park Department. We’ve requested Jean Sweeney Park because Pat worked on getting the Cross Alameda Trail implemented there.
If you’d like to contribute to this effort go to https://www.100ktrees4humanity.com/ and click on the Donate Now button in the middle of the home screen, make your donation and indicate in the comments that your donation is in memory of Pat Potter. Amos will track the donations made in Pat’s honor and determine the number of trees we can plant. He can get trees wholesale at ~$65-$70 per tree. Once things are worked out with Rec and Park (which warning could take months), we will arrange a tree planting day and we will let everyone know so they can participate in the planting if desired. 100K Trees for Humanity will have experts available to show us how to plant the trees and will provide needed equipment as well as additional volunteers to plant the trees. Working together let’s make a nice, shaded area where we can stroll and remember our dear friend Pat.
