At its recent meeting, the Transportation Commission unanimously recommended the adoption of staff’s proposal for the Clement/Tilden Project. The plan goes before City Council for a vote in early March.
In Oakland, the Fruitvale Alive project has finally begun! The extensive upgrades there, including a raised protected bikeway from Alameda Ave up to E 12th Street, will vastly improve the safety and experience for people traveling along that corridor, and to and from Fruitvale BART. Work will continue into 2024.
April 2023 Update:
At its March 21 meeting, City Council voted unanimously to endorse the design concept for the Clement Avenue/Tilden Way Project and to authorize more funding for the project to proceed. This project will improve safety for all users, close an important gap in the Cross Alameda Trail, and, coupled with the Fruitvale Alive project, will make biking to Oakland and BART much better. If all goes as planned, construction is expected to begin in 2024, and to be completed in 2025. Read more about it here.
