Commission Votes to Approve Protected Bike Lane on Grand!

Last week, the Transportation Commission voted 5-0 to support staff’s recommended plan which includes protected bike lanes between Otis and Encinal on Grand Street. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who spoke at the meeting or sent in written comments – we had an excellent show of support for the project! This vote was an important win, but the final decision will be made on the evening of Tuesday, June 21 by our City Council.

November 2022 Update

At its November 1 meeting, City Council reviewed additional information about the Grand Street project and voted 3-2 in favor of staff’s recommendation of protected bike lanes between Otis and Encinal:

Thank you Councilmember Knox White, Vice Mayor Vella, Mayor Ezzy Ashcraft, our Transportation Planning and Public Works staff, and of course all of you who helped push this important project over the finish line!

Construction is scheduled to begin early next year, and we look forward to Alamedans being able to enjoy this new, safer facility by this time next year!
