Great news for those who want to commute from Central or West Alameda to Oakland by bike without suffering through the Tube, or having to worry about limited bike rack space on the bus: this $1, 10-minute commute short hop service will get you safely across the estuary and back every weekday, starting November 8. Amtrak and BART stations are within easy biking distance on the Oakland side, making more distant destinations within reach, too. On the Alameda side, bicyclists can get to the Main Street ferry using the lovely Cross Alameda Trail and the bike lanes along Main Street.
