In May, the Alameda Peeps Facebook page took up the cause of safe streets for all by launching the Slow Down in Town campaign. Campaign co-founder Heather Little offers a quick explainer on the campaign.
In an effort to raise awareness and promote safe interactions between pedestrians, cyclists and drivers, Alameda Peeps is sponsoring the Slow Down in Town campaign. The group is using the campaign as a platform for addressing the growing concerns about traffic and is asking our city leadership to respond and make our community safer. The campaign is built on the premise that we are ALL responsible for one another, regardless of how we choose to move around our city. By promoting driver/cyclist education, ensuring enforcement of laws takes place and providing the infrastructure necessary to reduce risk, our city leadership can lead the way towards safer streets. Look for the big red signs that are popping up all over town as a show of support for the movement. The group is using the campaign as a platform for addressing the growing concerns about traffic and is asking our city leadership to respond and make our community safer.
