The design for the Atlantic portion of the Cross Alameda Trail comes before the Transportation Commission this Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 7 p.m.!
Ask the Transportation Commission members to support this one block long protected bikeway. Be sure they say “yes” to the proposed design.
The Recreation and Park Commission voted unanimously on October 29 to support a separated bike facility on Atlantic – one that would protected bicyclists traveling between the two Cross Alameda Trail segments. Staff was able to go to the drawing board to the drawing board to find funding and a design that would work.
The Transportation Commission will make a recommendation on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 7 p.m.
The proposed design creates a protected bike lane in one lane on Atlantic Avenue between Webster and Constitution directly between the first and second segments of the Cross Alameda Trail. If approved, the project would be constructed at the same time as the path in the Jean Sweeney Open Space Park.

Before Wednesday, January 27, send an e-mail to the Transportation Commission members via the Alameda city clerk and the Transportation Commission Secretary at clerk@alamedaca.gov or vpatel@alamedaca.gov.

re: TC mtg Jan 27, 2016 – Item 5D Cross Alameda Trial Atlantic Segment
Transportation Commission Members:
Please support the staff’s design concept for the Cross Alameda Trail Gap Closure. This street needs to be safe for people traveling between the two portions of the Cross Alameda Trail. A protected bike lane is the best way to keep bicyclists safe, while leaving the sidewalk for those who choose to walk.
Thank you.
